Hi
Any thoughts appreciated!
Had a mid service and now there is a leak of fluid from the transmition box - well it’s over the box under the car. Is this normal after a service or is there a problem?
Also the occcassional noises- sounds like a grinding noise when driving - comes and goes and is very occasional? Thinking diffs? But I’m like a real novice!
Are these noises all a normal life of the defender?
Th ask for the support guys!
Still enjoying the Puma!

Noises (along with leaks) are definitely all part of having a defender.
Would need a little bit more of a description for the noice but it would be worth checking the prop-shaft ujs, as these are a common culprit for making squealing/grinding noises when driving. First thing to do would be look at them for tell tale rust marks, feel them for play, and if neither are present fill them with grease and see if the noise stops.

Wipe the box down and clean it, so that after a run you can see exactly where it is leaking from. Depending on where it is leaking from depends on what the next course of action would be. It may just be the box may have been carelessly/over filed covering everything in oil, Or previously the fluid level had dropped to the point where it no longer leaked which would then require the relevant seals to be replaced to repair. There is some truth in the common quip about a leak letting you know it is not empty yet.
