I randomly get the traction control and hill descent yellow lights on when I start the car, but then they stay on. Not every time but enough to make it annoying. Only these 2 lights, not the ABS. I have tried a new Bearmach brake light switch but that hasn't cured it. However I've noticed some posts saying the switch comes with a wiring loom as well. Mine didn't. Could this be the cause or didn't my model need the loom? It's a 2002 td4 ES. Cheers guys!

Yes, without reading the codes you do not know what you are up against. Without the ABS light, I wouldn't have though it is the brake switch or wheel sensors - but once again its guesswork.

For the combo of lights you have lit, Rave says "ECM Input Failure" - what ever that means, possibly it is not getting a throttle feed (from the ECM).

When you replaced the Brake Light Switch did you disconnect the battery first. My TC would flicker on until I replace the Brake Light Switch on my 2002 td4 recently. Also have a quick look at gear leaver TC switch as they could damage. Also do all your lights display ABS TC HDC and go off quickly and then when travelling the TC comes.on. According Haynes there is another switch that needs resetting just below page 9 -17 if auto has cruise control.

Sorry I clicked post reply before I'd finished! Thanks for the info and the offer of the code read. I'm not a million miles away so that is definitely doable.

The car is a td4 auto.

no probs , plse feel free to give me a shout and will be happy to help

just a thought is fuse 2 ok and are ur rear brake lights now working ok

if we get the codes read , can at least see what's been stored as dtc errors and may then give a good direction to go in

as others have also said , have u checked all ur lights on start up, then seeing what goes out

can be sometimes difficult in tracing errors , mines a 2002 , 3 door auto ,

i also added the cruise control which u can do on the autos

Hi. I didn't disconnect the battery first when I fitted the switch. I didn't realise that would affect it. I don't get the other lights on that you mention.

Hi. My brake lights have always worked. I only swapped the switch as it was suggested to me that was likely to be the culprit. When I turn the ignition on I get all the lights on, as they should, then once the engine has started they all go out. Except for the times when TC and hill descent decide to stay on. If they do stay on, it's always right from the start. They never come on half way through a journey.
