Hi,

I've been browsing the forum and found plenty of posts about The 3 Amigos, which sounds similar, but not exactly like the problem I currently have.

We've just recently acquired an 04 TD4 from my Father in law- well looked after, regularly serviced, no real offroading etc. The other day 2 warning lights came on -The Hill descent and the traction control (not the ABS light though). The hill descent function doesn't appear to be working, but unfortunately I can't say whether or not it was working before these lights came on.

I appreciate that I'll probably need to get it looked at, but any advice would be appreciated. My main query in connection with this is; is the car still safe to drive? Everything else seems to be as expected, but I'm just slightly concerned that there could be some underlying more dangerous problem.

Secondly, can anyone recommed a decent and trustworthy garge in the East/ South Manchester area? Denton/ Stockport/ Ashton under Lyne etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I would think it is the same as the 3 Amigos , mine was the same with only 2 lights on the dash, the remedy of changing the brake light switch fixed it.
Also, if it is this then generally the brake lights stop working as well when the dash warning lights are on.
Re the HDC , that only works up to 5mph if i remember correctly.

Hope that helps.

Would also suggest looking into some of the mods like EGR blanking, Crankcase breather upgrade, and definitely worth putting a Synergy 2 on. Do a search for some posts in the forum for more info.
cheers

Chris

Stockport Landranger are always spot on and good prices for servicing and maintenance. I also find them very helpful with advice on sorting problems even when your going to do the work yourself.

Thanks both.

Chris- yep the brake lights are not working- which I hadn't realised. Good to know that it appears to be a simple problem.

Mr Rimmer- cheers, they're pretty local and I'd much rather deal with someone on a recommendation rather than picking a name from a search.
