arrgghh !!!!!! just replaced water pump on the disco (300tdi), thought it would stop the fooking tweeting from under the bonnet, but to no avail.:doh:

I have checked the tensioner bearing, the power steering pulley/bearing, they seem fine, but are still tweeting and chirping.

any ideas gents i'm just about ready to sign myself in for therapy :frusty:

today i took my td5 apart to replace the chirpy crankshaft pulley but whilst taking the tension off the belt noticed the tensioner pulley was no more than hand tight on removal behind it were metal filings indicating wear, so changed that instead of crank pulley and chirping stopped and i saved a fortune on the price of the pulleys,

Gonna try this today as the fuel pump mod looks a bit hard :) how do you take the belt off ? does any thing have to be marked ?

You use a 15mm socket (with a long lever) on the nut of the tensioner wheel. Turn it anticlockwise to take the tension off the belt.

Bear in mind it takes a fair bit of force to move the tensioner.
