Yarp, i reinstalled my Rave manual, the normal rave manual i have doesn't have the TD6 engine details but i have a copy that only opens with Acrobat reader 4 that does have all the TD6 stuff, I've sent you a PM @nigglyblue

Bit of an update, firstly I failed to start the TD6.
Allcomms would connect ok to some systems but not engine, comms error which makes me think it isn’t powered.

No immobiliser faults showing.

Tried cranking and got nothing but would crank yesterday before battery removed to charge.
Tried clearing some faults and checking wiring and would then crank but only an interrupted half crank as if it would crank half a turn and stop and then half a turn then stop.

Then noticed no dash lights and then no crank at all again again.

Checked all fuses in glove box and engine ECU box and all ok.

Tried jumping but made no difference , battery seems good at 13.5 volts plus but tried other battery to rule that out.

The temp gauge is now normal having been replaced, inlet manifold removed to achieve this.
I didn’t try adding a jump lead from the negative battery terminal to the engine to make sure Earth was ok.

My other thought is ignition barrel contacts

Need to confirm power going to fuses

Any other ideas please ?

Ifyou get it running the gearbox will probably give up the ghost.

I’ve been doing some more digging, I’ll post up some things to try or message you.
I don’t mind popping over again for another try mate if I know what to test for after having a read. There are quite a few threads with similar issues but always the one that has the same problems doesn’t post up the resolution. I’ll send you the link to the Indy I used.

Ok mate thanks. I know the thread you are referring to. Wondering about the inertia switch as well. I am working tomorrow night but I will rise early for another battle. Just had one with the Mrs about that b****y car, so just about ready for it now. Look forward to you suggestions of things to try. Appreciate you time mate.

A couple of threads I have found point to engine earth strap loose, I think you mentioned some cables at the back of the engine that you removed when you removed the inlet manifold , does that ring any bells ?

I also read the inertia switch thread but don’t know what it is.
The Allcomms did find faults in the BCM as well as another thread said resetting that worked as well as another thread where somebody removed every single fuse in the glove box to check which must have reset something and triggered theirs back to life

Andy when I had the engine earth problem, the veh wouldn't even turn over. It was more like the alternator fault click. Don't know if that is of any help.

Thanks, this one has stopped turning over totally now and we have lost instrument cluster lights.
Do you know where your offending earth lead was?

We never found it, just put a new one on. Truth be told didn't look overly hard, I had loaded car and jumped in to head to London, then .......click. When alternator and battery fault ruled out, decided it was an earth.
Had a quick look around, couldn't see where it was broken/frayed/missing, so just put another one on.

I think the thing to try then is connect a jump lead from good earth to the engine somewhere substantial to test it , good call :)

And something else to add, i couldn't get allcomms to connect to the engine ecu or the transmission and a few other systems but i did manage to get something from the instrument pack which is attached. i think these faults are pointing towards no power / earth again and i also found a similar thread that i have linked below which also turned out to be bad earths.
have a scout around mate
