Hi new to this ,but just purchased a l322 2002 hse td6'everthing great ,until Monday ,drove 25 miles to work ,parked up for 13 hours, came back ,car won't start any help,or advice please, tried various things but nothing, regards Tom

Bust Fuel Pump....

There are 3 pumps on the TD6....on in the tank, one on the outside of the tank and the high pressure pump on the engine.

The most common to go pop is the external tank pump mounted under a hatch cover on the tank itself....turn the ignition on and listen for its whine!

Check fuel pump fuses in the boot area and also the fuel pump relay for correct operation.

If the pumps are working fine - check voltage across the ignition switch, these fail and don't let full juice through which in turn the ECUs don't like causing the car to not function!

Hi,had my mate to turn ignition on whilst I lay under car, pump seems to be working ,took pipes of fuel filter, flicked key loads of fuel came out, regards Tom

So the pump is generating pressure....next is to see if it is being injected.

Using a plastic bottle to catch the spray, remove an injector and place the business end in the bottle....turn over the engine and you should get a good pressurised fan of diesel....be mindful it will be high pressure, enough to penetrate skin, so be careful.

If you are getting fuel to the injectors, the only things next is cranking speed (good battery), good compression and heat from the glow plugs....these have been known to fail...although the TD6 should start, albeit begrudgeningly, without the glows...if the compression is low the lack of heat will make a difference to starting efficiency.

You could also try carefully squirting Easystart in the intake and see if she coughs and splutters on that!
