Anyone have any views on the above?

I'm looking to get some extra BHP out of the old girl and was wondering if anyone had any experiance with the Turner performance heads for the 300tdi.

Any info would be good!!

Many Thanks,

Glenn

You know Nitrous is very effective on diesels right?

Failing that rip it out and stick in a V8, thats the best way towards decent power, the 300TDi was only ever meant to be a low revving tractor engine, even the old VW 1.9 diesel engines are more tunable than the 200/300's

Are you running water injection? If you are, what are the results (mpg/bhp)?

I've only ever done in on my Mazda Rx7 back in the day, that was very modified with a big turbo and uprated fuelling all the way. We remapped it to the water, could chuck a load more fuel in and added around 20rwhp IIRC

Happy times.

Mine has a Turner head on it.
Was done by the previous owner.

Cant say I notice a massive difference between it and my old 300tdi, but then lots of other things are different between the two such as Tyre Size, Weight etc
So not a good comparison really.

Think he only did it because his head Gasket went and warped the head, he managed to get a turner one for not much more than a standard one.

Thanks for the info guys.

I'm not considering NOS or any other supplementary injection system at this stage, but thanks for the info.

Reliability is still the key factor as the vehicle will be travelling to Morocco next year with further overland trips planned.

V8 isn’t an option, just a personal thing but I much prefer a diesel lump over any V8 unless it’s a Diesel V8 :D

the 300 tdi engines power potential is limited by the head bolt strength(and head to block seal), even if you use hd bolts the block fixing fails.
With turbo diesels 100bhp/litre is nothing special or hard to do its getting the architecture of the engine structure to hold up to it and getting the fuel delivered which the ve pump is capable of

Thanks for the info pressbrake, so in your opinion what should my next step be?

Cheers,

Glenn

surely if you are planning long trips then the reasonable power you have is more than enough without risking reliability.... having said that turner do have a good rep and dont beleive fitting one would compromise reliability.....

move into the realms of custom injectors, hybrid turbos, remapped bits etc etc and can you easily get repair parts when in the arse end of beyond???

cheers steve

V8 Glenn you know it makes sense all the power you want with£££ and underwater capabilities with some edis ign systems and probably cheaper to run than you think giving petrol vs diesel prices currently
