turbo vent filter / boost control solenoid valve vent filter

hi

While working on the car today I noticed the turbo vent filter / boost control solenoid valve vent filter was connected at one end but not at the other

Anyway I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it should be connected or just hang there?

The vent filter just hangs on the rubber hose with nothing connected to its other end.

OK thanks, thought I had pulled something off lol. Is it worth changing this while doing my service?

they're cheap enough, no way to know how old it is so change it this time then at least you know you can forget about it.
