Hi all. Was out on the weekend and under heavy load (steep hills) I was getting a chirping noise which was getting slower/faster with the engine RPM. I thought it may be coming from the turbo, but I drove all day and by the time I had got home the noise had stopped. I just checked my turbo and there is a very small bit of play side to side but nothing in and out. Does that sound about normal or is that something to worry about?? Turbo seems to be working fine and is boosting ok from what I can tell.

Cheers

Is that the big hose from the top of the intercooler to top of the engine?? Sorry, i'm a bit dim when it comes to turbos!!!

chirping is usually a belt driven problem
check ALT, power steering ,water pump, idler pulley bearings

may be just the belt

Cheers Spunka. Think my chirping is definately belt or pulley related as you said. Think my belt tensioner maybe on its way out. Gonna check it over today. The reason I originally thought it was the turbo was because I am having performance issues at the moment but thats a whole other story!!! Bloody Land rovers :)
