Hi
Can anyone tell me if the hose fitting coming from the MAF and going down to the Turbo should have a hose clip on the Turbo end or is it just a slip over?

Mine is just a slip over and it doesn't seem sensilble - I am trying to sort out a low down miss and thought perhaps some air is being drawn in there.

Thanks

I know that you had all the injectors out but did you have them checked/refurbed? may well be the cause of your miss if the spray pattern is degrading at certain pressure....

No they were only wiped clean - I think you are right - I have felt that all the time but the guy who did the job said to try them first - wish I had gone down the testing route now.

Ok looks like they will have to come out. I may take them out myself - as they have been out recently they should come out ok - any tips on getting them out and back in?

Cheers

If they have been out then its a fairly easy job to do. Would then advise getting injectors refurbed, how many miles have they done as you would expect to start to see problems from 80K onwards.
We pay £80 per injector for a full refurb, so not a cheap option but if memory serves last time some one wanted them testing first was a cost of £30 per injector.

Yeh it's done 86k - I am on my 4th tank with cleaner in it at the moment and there seems to be an improvement - not right but going the right way. I would like to just replace the one that is gone but cannot tell which really. I think it may be number 1 as that was the one that had a broken collar and had started coming out but who knows.

I have bought a known good injector and may go down the swap out route.

It could be worth your while getting it hooked up and get them to run live data through the rev range and see what each injector is doing under load.
A good independent should cost no more that £40, that was you will know which is causing the problem, but if finances run to it with the mileage they have done then the refurb route could save later problems. The firm we use turns them around the same day, but they are local to us so we can drop off in morning and pick up at tea time. With postage it could be 4 to 5 days. but just doing one at a time is not really a practical option.

I work in a college and our automotive guys hooked me up and checked what they could - they say there are no faults but there seems to be over fueling going on.

Driving it today it was much much less. I will see how it goes at the end of this tankful then start the process. I think there is someone local I can go to to get tests done then make a decision.

Ermmm all the hoses I have around the intake and oil cooler pipes (which has the MAF inline) have hoseclips on.

Yes so do mine but what about the one that goes from the MAF down behind the engine to the turbo - is there a hose clip around the mouth of the Turbo or just a push fit? - difficult to see but you can get your hand down.
