hi all, ive got an e reg 90 fitted with the 2.5na engine although its in a good condition it is simply too powerless at times. ive been given a turbo, exhaust manifold and inlet off of a 19j. from what i can gather apart from the later 19j's the engine was the same. i know many people hate 19j's with a passion but several people i know have never experienced a problem. are there any differences between the engines or not? hope someone knows more, thanks

tubro blocks were used on all engines later so if yours had been changed at one time oil feed/drain might be there other wise you can get adapter housing that fits between filter for feed and drill tap a hole in block for drain ,then fit pump and turbo it will last for some time ,but might be cheaper to fit 200tdi and sell your engine to help with costs

Aren't the compression ratios different?

Modders overcome this with thicker or doubling up of head gaskets, or new internals,

Never driven a na or td but i would Get a 200 which is as far as I am aware a straight swap!!

200tdi as per numerous threads on here

compression ratio is the same with 2.5 na and td 21.1

Injectors are tuned differently. apparently you get a bit of knocking using td injectors on the na. not sure what the opposite is? you'll have a retarded engine I guess :)
