Hello all, can anybody recommend a L/R Tuning place near Shropshire. Most places i've found seem to be up Yorkshire. I don't want a rocketship just extra horses for towing, i think mine is lacking some and want an investigation & maybe re-chipping.
Cheers

Seriously Adrian, you ought to re-read your posts before sending them.

How can anyone give you advice if you don't give us any info. The sort of thing that is useful to know is:

Year, model, engine type, gearbox type etc etc.

Then there is a basis on which to give advice. We are not mind-readers:D:D Incidently you may notice that most posters put the vehicle details in their signature, so it shows up every time.

Cheers
Dave

Why "near Shropshire"? Are you in Shropshire? If so wouldn't one in Shropshire be any good?

As well as putting details of your car in your sig it would be useful to put your location in your profile

Sorry my mistake, i have a Discovery TD5 manual 2002 facelift

Right Adrian, now we've got something to work on.

The following are known issues and modifications for TD5's:

Modifications:- De-EGR - this is removing the EGR system to stop the recirculation of dirty exhaust gases back into the engine. £30

De-Cat - this refers to the replacement of the exhaust downpipe for one without a cat. These mods will not adversely affect your MOT results but will improve performance and mpg. £60

Remap - the refers to the changing of fuelling maps within the main engine ECU; Makes the single biggest improvement in drivability. £225.

Issues:

The biggest single issue to affect performance is arguably a faulty Mass Airflow meter.

That start you thinking? Considor buying a HawkEye diagnostic tool - then you won't be at the mercy of garages.

Cheers
Dave

Thanks Dave, i have already De-EGR'd, i have tried a coupe of second hand Air Mass meters but have not really noticed a vast improvement. I will try the cat you have suggested. I would like to find somewhere not to far from me with a rolling road, that might find something else before going to expence of Re-chipping, any suggestions who?

I have removed egr .replaced the airflow meter and had a re-map from
Dynachip , puts out about 160 ish bhp and pulls like a train in
Every gear,no need to go up and down the gears when overtaking
And I can embarrass lots of cars at the traffic lights if I ever
Come over all childish, but on a serious note I still get 30 ish mpg ,had it done about
5ish months. Well worth it ! De-cat coming up next

The Clue is here....

I have removed egr .replaced the airflow meter and had a re-map from
Dynachip

and it costs approx £225 -£250

and its well worth doing as it would pay for itself in a year depending how many miles ya do

Hi Richard, sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. The reason near to Shropshire is i don't know of any in this area, maybe you could suggest one ?
