I fancy DIY-ing a tubular bumper for my Ninety. :)

Yeah, yeah, I know Google has got hundreds of pictures - but they all show the bumper from the front.

I want to get an idea of what the back looks like and how it mounts to the Landy.

Can anyone help?

Ian.

Found this picture of Redhand's - if only I could see the other side!

Have been thinking the same thing.

Just gone back through my browser history. Knew I'd seen a good picture of the back of a bumper recently.

see the little pictures at the bottom of this page

Landrover Tuning :: Tubular Winch Bumper A-bar Defender (with Air/con) SHADOW with tested Stainless Steel Swivel Recovery Eyes and tested Bow Shackles in Black or Silver also for warn high mount - Protection Defender - Defender

especially this one. (open in new window though, because unfortunitely it resizes the browser window)

Ah, good stuff. Buckshot is making one himself at the moment, and he sent me some pics too. Basically they go through the original bumper holes AND also make use of the holes that go horizontally through the chassis rails.
I've got a pretty good idea of how they go together now - gonna start collecting the metal for it.

Those holes you've identified are hi-lift jacking points.

Do share (if Buckshot doesn't mind of course). I'd be intrested to see pics of any projects in progress.

It'd be nice to see some up close pics of the underside with one mounted up properly. Cant seem to find a good pic of that.

Ah, of course. Jacking points make sense.

Sorry to revive a thread. But on the subject of building winch bumpers, what kind of diameter tube is used on the pro jobbies?
