Hi everyone
I need some help, RR vogue 50 which had a Kenwood head unit, all worked well except the radio, I have brought a new JVC DAB head unit all works well eg lights up but no sound!! I have read all treads dealing with new head units.
When taking out the old head unit I did notice that the blue ant wire from the radio was plugged into another wire from the old RR wiring, this is the only thing I can see different, would I be right in thinking that the reason this was connected on the old head unit was to power the HK amp in the back, please help as this is driving me mad
Thanks for all your help in advance

Andy:)

Andy - what year is your RR and does it have the Harmon / Kardon setup? I do harnesses to fit aftermarket head units into P38s (and currently working on a comprehensive writeup to make one yourself, if you prefer)

What colour are the two ISO plugs that go into your head unit, and are they both 8-pin or is one of them 10-pin?

Hi Thanks for the reply
It seems that I only have the one grey plug the other plug has been removed, the car its self is a 98 and it does have the full H/K set up everything was working with the Kenwood head unit, I might try and connect the yellow wire to the power today to see if it powers up the H/K amp system, if by midday you see loads of vogue 50 parts for sale on Ebay, you know it didn't work LOL

Hmm... Weird. The grey plug is power, etc and the pink (Clarion original) or yellow-ish (Alpine original) is for speakers. It needs both. This is only for the P38 though, don't know about L322s or Classics.

Sounds like someone's chopped the amplifier plug off, I think prayers to various religions are in order. I'd try to find a pink plug from an hk system, with some lengths of wire still on the pins, reconnect these to your existing wiring (in the right order!) then get a sounds4wheels adapter lead( what I use, works great) or clarky130's ( he seems to know what he's doing and he's cheaper). If not it's the words of the song "rip it out and start again" Good luck mate

Speaker wire colour coding should be as follows (assuming it's a P38 - you haven't said yet, or the year):

Blue - rear right +
blue/black - rear right -
Red - front right +
red/black - front right -
Yellow - front left +
yellow/black - front left -
Green - rear left +
green/black - rear left -

Orange - sub +
orange/black - sub -

POWER Connector (ISO 8-pin grey)

Pin 2 - grey/black - amp remote (pin 5 in newer Alpine systems, from MY 99 - same as standard ISO location)

Purple - perm + 12v
White/pink - switched +12v
Black - GND

OMG Ive done it all working amps werent powered but are now system sounds incredible, but me being dangerous I thought I would have a look under the bonnet and found that the hose from the rocker to the phelum had a hole in it so decided to change, found a bit of hose which would do the trick, but did not notice it had a kink halve way down, blipped the throttle, all seemed good blipped the throttle once more engine changed over to LPG and BANG back fire through the air box, now need new air box, sods law
Thanks guys anyway for all your help

regards to you all

Andy
PS the car is a 4.6 vogue 50 1998
