I have ordered a new full roof for my truck cab, it got too stuffy up front with the wife and 2 dogs.
What am I going to need to do/buy to mount the roof sides to the rear tub as she has always been a truck?
How many holes am I going to have to drill?
Can I do this alone?
Should I use stainless bolts?

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You will need two people as a hard top/full roof is quite heavy. You wont need to drill any holes however as they are already there. Off the top of my head however you will need the two fancy bolts that are already present in the hard top just behind both front doors. Then there are brackets about midway along the sides that will need two, m8 bolts if i recall correctly, to fasten to the tub. Then finally on either side of the rear door you need two of those fancy bolts you used on the front plus two normal bolts on either side of the rear door. Along the top of the windscreen you will ned 6xM8(im positive its M8 but im drunk at time of posting this so christ knows) bolts and that should be you.
Note that there should be a rubber seal between the tub, roof and hardtop. If not then stick one in.

Managed to swop mine alone but it was bloody difficult and I wouldn't reccomend it

Don't see much of a reason to use stainless but I do put a dab of copper grease on just about everything I tighten up cause there is ALWAYS some need to undo them again and there's something about Landys that seems to weld nuts and bolts together in about 2 weeks

Lifted mine on by myself, but I needed a hand to get the front windscreen surround - Hardtop together, we used bathroom sealant on the front of it, and it worked a treat :D the hardtop should have two brackets that bolt onto the capping inside, and there are also a few bolts to go where the two small rear windows are, as well as under the seatbelt mounting bars

Took the roof off yesterday afternoon.
It took about 2 hours and the wife helped to lift it to the floor.
Then we took the dogs for a ride, what a lovely convertable!
seems a shame to put a roof back on.
I am hoping that the new full roof will be easier to remove so that I can take it off for the winter and back on in the summer.
I will try to get a piccy up.

Nude Pumkin!

I couldn't agree more, I took the roof off my csw as the extra seats are no longer need and I fancied a truck cab... After taking it for a quick spin there is no way I'm putting a permanent roof back on... It's made it such a better vehicle!

I've taken the roof off mine too, the only problem was it stopped me putting seatbelts in, so I would have needed a seatbelt bar across it, good fun across the fields though :D

Windscreen seems very sturdy.
I would have to find a long ,straight, steep hill to get 70mph out of the Pumkin.

BTW I have to find a different method of seat belts.
The center seatbelt will only work on one side!!!!!!

Any ideas?

OK. Good to know. I am definately going to whip the roof off for the summer !
Would love to get a set of series doors and a set of hinges for the windscreen too.
I presume the door tops add some strength to the windscreen though ?

Off topic:
Im supprised by your speed related response.
My 300tdi will cruise at 80mph and I have had it above 95 (obviously not on public highways). Not that I drive around normally at these speeds, I may nudge 80 if im overtaking on the motorway or something ? Just quite supprised.

Oh, seatbelts. Seat belts, seatbelt and harnesses manufactured by Securon for all vehicles and motor sport
I rekon they could make you something up.

I bought a safety devices roll hoop (£80 on eBay) which has a bracket for the seat belt to bolt to.

I was going to put some series doors on but the windows do come in handy to direct the airflow around you so it's not like driving in a force 9 gale!

Took almost 9 hours but was well worth the effort.
Fits nice and snug with very few sqeaks and rattle.
Still got some tweaking to do and some sealing but its on.
Ready for the next vacation.......................

REALLY like the sliding glass side windows, lots of ventillation.
