I gotta paint the top white, the black is waaaaaaaay toooooo hot!!!!

whats a good paint for fiberglass? do I have to prime it?

Plastic primer is flexible, but I suppose it's only as flexible as the top coat you put on, I've recently bought some acid etch primer, for some chequer plate and it says on the back of the can 'Also suitable for most rigid plastics' Fiberglass is very stiff so that could do the job :) Just sand it down and get a good key for the paint to stick to :D

So, I came to work in Pumkin this morning (its Friday)

The heavens just opened up with an hours long tropical rain storm. Really heavy rain non stop.

The new roof leaks like a frikin sieve!

Puddles on the floor front and rear, dash soaked, seats soaked, steering wheel soaked.

I will need a case of silicone!

I think most of it came in where the roof is bolted to the windshield frame. And the tops of the doors.

fun fun fun......................:eek::D

Pumkins new leaky roof, the top is now white and hopefully better sealed.

Looking good - any close up pics?

Have you tried a hosepipe test, or is it a case of waiting for the next tropical storm?

Which white did you go for in the end Natas?

Waiting for the next downpour, HOWEVER, I recently(today) spoke to the guy that sold me the top and was informed that I need a seal for between the front of the roof and the windshield frame , . I had just sealed (or tried to seal) it down with silocon!!!!

So he is sending the seal, along with one for the rear door/window.

This means I have to get the front back off the windshield frame.
I am thinking that once I loosen and remove the bolts I should be able to seperate the top from the frame with a utility knife without removing anything else?
We shall see, it will be interesting to see how well the leaks are fixed as is.
Dont know how soon this will be happeneing as I am booked for another holiday with Pumkin, this time to a different island called Abaco. Lots of exploring.

shouldnt have thought so as is replacement front hoop . truck cab has bracket fitted to top corner ,i used the same bracket put secured to hoop by welding lug and capping with bolts ,just unbolted with hoop when fitting cab

Unfortunately my cab is now fiberglass.:(

OK,

Just checked all 4 wheels.
All is well, no noise and no loosness.

I think the problem is that I am running the tyre pressure too low in the front.
Gonna pump them back up and see if that helps.

Pumkin exploring in the bush with the newly paited white roof top.
She is soooooo much cooler.

Vacation to Abaco Island next week Friday.
A full week in the bush!

I am an idiot.

The hard top is nice, its practical, looks good..............
But I dont like it:( its noisy, rattly and leaky.

I enjoyed Pumkin sooooo much the 2 weeks that I had no top at all.

So, now I am going to go for a full soft top.:screaming_bug_eye_f

I want the option of being able to remove the top.

BTW, how long does it take to remove a soft top, then re-install?

Whats the best?

Thanks.
