Trouble starting 300TDi auto

95 300 TDi automatic with EDC, dosn't matter if its hot or cold it turns and turns and turns before it finally give a kick in to life.

You can go to it and eventually when it starts it drives faultless, but stop the engine and it takes an age to start.

Its had a new lift pump fitted and there is no diesel leaks to be seen.

Am wondering if it could be the EDC unit?

Could be air in the fuel system.

Perished/slack leak off pipes ?

I can't see any.

My main thing is it drives perfect after it eventually starts.

Does the EDC have a diagnostic port if so what is required to read this?

That's what used to cause mine to have slow starts .. didn't leak but perished and cracked so let air in when trying to run.

A leak in the fuel line won't necessarily leak fuel but suck air if it's before the lift pump

So an in depth check of the pipe work should be done before anything else.

I can't say as I've notice any thing but will get under it and go over it again.
