So, this afternoon I decided my aim was to attach my Safari snorkel!
Well, i didn't achieve that. I didn't even come close.
Under my bonnet, I have a second battery in front of the left wheel arch and one of the EGR components and the cruise control thing (?) are sitting loose where the standard Land Rover airbox should be.
I plan on removing the EPG alltogether and putting a plate over the manifold, but where should I move the cruise control thing to?
I also have the bonnet-lift detector of the alarm system just above where the airbox should go. I imagine this will be able to stay where it is though.
So... the snorkel comes in the side of the left wing, exactly where it should. On the air intake is a cone-shaped K&N air filter, which will obviously have to go.
I paid a visit to RJ Land Rovers today and they kindly sold me a brand new standard Land Rover airbox. They had no idea what to so about my snorkel though. They appear to know very little about snorkels in general actually and say they don't fit many, generally. Their advice was to look on the Internet to see if I could figure out what parts I was missing!
Here are my problems...
My brand new airbox seems to have a few holes in the bottom (look like they were there as it was molded). These holes are on the "correct" side of the filter I believe, but will obviously suck in water given the opportunity!
I then need a way to block off the hole in the front of the aibox where the air would normally enter.
Finally, I need a way of making a new hole in the airbox for the snorkel to attach to, I need a way of routing the snorkel intake around to that hole, and I then need a way of attaching the airbox to the engine intake pipe!
What parts do I already have? None. Just the snorkel (already attached to the vehicle) and a brand new airbox (sitting on my back seat at the moment).
So... any advice??
