Mm. Mine is also FFR fitted for radio too. Hardtop 90 I think the first call is service the diesel pump by specialist then have it serviced by me and see how that go.

yes, that would help a lot as well. mine will do about 60 but like yours its loud at that speed...any more than 60 is plain silly lol. I like 50 ish on flat and whatever i can on the inclines/hills/slopes. Am thinking of sound proofing mat for the driver/passenger areas which is cheap enough for the proper sized stuff or i may go diy.

tweaking the fuel pump certainly helps, as does getting the idle speed spot on.

I fitted PAS, its made it lose a slight bit of acceleration (pah!) but the driveability is so much better its worth it

The problem I have with adding pas, larger tyres etc is weight and lack of power. If I start thinking of all the things I would like to add like pas, a nice big (heavy) canvas tent, side awnings, extra battery, roof rack etc then all of a sudden I end up havine to add a 200 tdi lump.

Yeah that's very true, to be fair the pas set up is not massively heavier than the standard manual steering.

I run 7.50x16 tyres and it's ok. I also have my 90 empty most of the time and when I do load it up it's not over stuffed or anything.

I love mine, it's runs smoothly and sweet, just is t very quick, but I find it less hassled to drive :) just sit back and chill, it's gets you there in the end!

Was even tempted to go for a withams reconditioned unit(2.5na) and replace the clutch with a new one, as apposed to putting a tdi in. Then the wife intervened....

Yep :) the NA is certainly an unstoppable plodder!

+1 Not fast but did around 500 miles off road over the Pyrenees, steep tracks, rocks, ruts mud and gravel as well as some long road stints and was amazed as it was no slower off road than any of the turbo guys :)

Smiley,
can you tell us more regarding performance, mpg etc and what your set up is landrover and camping wise....pleeease :)

steve.

Ps any pictures ?

Flat, so u fitted PAS onto your military 2.5n/a. I'm looking to do the same. But am not sure how or what bracket I need go use. Any pics of pump with bracket etc. I know I need a steering box off. Discovery with 4 bolt etc. Any tips or pics will help my 90 military -)

Have a look at my 00KK53 thread photos are in there I think.

It's an easy swap, unbolt old and bolt on new.

You need an entire setup from a NA or TD (19j) that had it as stock fitment. TDi onwards won't fit.

The bracket is the hardest bit to find apparently but I got all mine in one go.

The new bracket is a combined alternator and pump bracket.

Best bet is to phone some breakers etc and keep an eye on the usual places like ebay etc.
