Hi All
It's been a while, but as life has a rhythm all of its own, my work on my lil beast has to wait its turn
My local indie LR shop has had a good look at her now, and diagnosed a faulty Body module control unit, and the transportation mode persists.
Because I have time, I am trying various means of rectification, sourcing new (haha), sourcing used, and repairing the existing unit. Taking out the existing unit was fun, and I am grateful to various threads on this site and others which made it easy.
Much other work has continued on my car, including new crankcase breather, brake fluid change, pas fluid change, gearbox service, replacement electric AC fan and more.. Really enjoying getting back to hands dirty works, but all of this will be rather wasted if I can't get her out of transport mode of course.
I will keep on updating this post just in case it may be of use to others in future.
Cheers for now
Mark

Update:
My original BCM has been repaired by a wizard who goes by the name of Mervyn Ashton. He is a software engineer who turned his hand to vehicle diagnosis and repair 12 years ago. He runs his own company called Autoelectron and is based in Harrogate.
It turns out that although my iid tool was reporting Transport Mode and the car had symptoms of no wipers/central locking/interior lights, it was actually a fault within the BCM causing the issue. The car had not been put into TM and therefore the iid could not resolve. I removed the BCM myself and delivered it to Mervyn in Harrogate whilst my wife and I spent the day exploring the sights, collected it same day and fitted it this morning. Although Mervyn had warned that the car keys may need re-synching, no such drama. As I reconected the last of the three wiring harnesses, much whiring of gadgetry could be heard (I had not disconnected the battery) and the interior lights burst into illumination, just like the smile on my face. Wipers! oh joy of joys such simple things make me so happy! And best of all, I can open the tailgate without needing to climb into the back and pull the emergency tab, my delight is literally unconfined!
Just for information, Mervyn offers a postal service, so there is no need to visit personally, but I have to say it was a glorious day we spent exploring the area.
There is still so much work that I will be doing to my car (Sally) over the next few, well forever, I guess, but at least I can now make a proper assessment. First things first, we are going to do some travelling around Scotland next week, and yes we will be taking Sally along for the ride. I hold no fear, I have the backup of the RAC should she decide to lay down her weary head on the wayside, but I am confident we shall return triumphant. The story will continue.
I wanted to bring this particular thread to conclusion, just in case some other owner has similar issues that I have encountered.
Cheers one and all
