  • Can someone please help, I keep loosing traction control , every time I go out. and my selector light keeps going off, an error message comes on dashboard saying “transmission fault traction reduced “. I have a Land Rover Freelander 2.2 SD4 SPORT LE 5d 190 BHP Estate Diesel Automatic, 2011, thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Nodge along with a few others that could probably give a better answer but have you serviced the haldex system, change the transmission oil etc. I have the SD4 2011 and on occasion had the same message but often due to the severe cold we experience up here hence the regular servicing of the oil both in transmission and haldex.

Most likely as above the Haldex will need servicing new filter, and maybe a new pump, if it has not been serviced since new? do you have any fault codes that have popped up and been read on a diagnostic, you need to get the TR read before doing any that will tell you exactly what the issue is,

Thank you for your reply, I have not done a transmission or handed service,

Thank you for your reply, I have not done a Haldex service, and will have a look to see if any fault codes first before doing anythin.

Could not see any fault codes, but only read with my cheap diagnostic OBD II, tool ?

You won't see any codes on a generic OBD2 reader. You need a code reader that can read all the modules in the vehicle, an OBD2 will only read faults in the ECM.

If the TR module is showing a fault, then it will most likely be more than just a Haldex service. The pump is a common issue on these, especially if it hasn't been serviced every 30k miles, which they never are.

Where abouts are you?

Hi, I have arranged tomorrow for a full diagnostic to see if any faults are found, see what it throws up ? What pump are you also suggesting could be faulty. I live near Sutton Coldfield. Do you work on these vehicles if can I’d problem ? Or suggest someone close to me ? Thank you for your advice.

Bell Engineering who are Birmingham based are the authority on Haldex issues, but if it's just a pump replacement and service, then any decent garage should be able to carry it out.
See what codes come up, and go from there.
