transferbox

hello just like to ask is any one could tell me abit about a transferbox? i have got a 1991 200 tdi. i can push the front propshaft up an down where it joins the transferbox!! do i need to replace the box?

Ello!
when yer say yer can move it do yer mean the propshaft joint or the flange on the box?
if its the first yer can just replace the joint if its the latter it could just be the big nut that hods it ont the shaft
