are there any series transferbox that will fit on to a 5 speed gearbox

i want a 5 speed box from a defender or disc but i want to keep the 2wd/4wd transferbox

ouch

so i take it they arnt compatable then

Well, its more expensive than an Over-Drive.....

alternatives are to use the LT230 box, to which you need to add teh cost of a centre diff conversion (also from Ashcrofts, and I seem to recall around £150ish) to make that part time 4wd selectable, and then £200 ish to add 3.5:1 diffs to bring the gearing back up to what the Series X-fer had, and get the benefit of the 5th gear back....

Or run the LT230 permenant 4WD and pay as much for a CV joint conversion on the front axle or a Stage 1 front axle so you dont get notch horrible steering and lots of UJ failures......

'Copatability; is all 'relative'........ or 'expensive' depending on your point of view!

If ou know someone with a surface grinder I beleive you can have the centre diff modded from the disco to selectable, or if you want to bdge you can angle grind it, but I wouldnt want to do that on a permanent job.
T'other thing you need to be aware of is that the '77 and '380 box's are a diffo length to the series so you'd need to have the propshafts modded too.
