Hi I am about to do a conversion from 19J to a 200tdi I have heard that it is worth fitting a 300tdi transfer box? Is this correct? If so which box should I be getting I aim to be doing long journeys so would prefer a good top end speed? Any advices as my expertise are limited. Thanks in advance

any 200tdi or 300 tdi transfer box would do if in good condition ,check splines in input gear ,swap your speedo drive ,and either drill and tap 2 m8 holes in rear for hand brake bracket or mod in other way
How big are your tyres? one of my mates has 265/75 muds and it really struggles to pull 5th up hills, a disco transfer box is better for cruising, but not as good for towing as a Defender one

Is the engine up to scratch?
My 90 200discotdi conversion would pull 5th fine with a 1.4:1 tranny box on 37 inch measured tyres it was actually quite nice. When I fitted 1.22 tranny box it was horrendus but normal 33 inch tyres twas perfect gearing the engine pulled fine.
Hmmm might not be after reading this haha, I have thought about it a bit, but I don't know if it would suit what I use mine for, don't think it's worth it because I'm not sure how well mine goes for a 200 tbh
btw don't suppose you know what height 265/75/16's are do you ?
