Hello all,

Ive just changed my transfer box oil and oh boy did it turn out to be a task, my fluid transfer pump FLUID TRANSFER GUN. IDEAL FOR LAND ROVERS GEARBOX on eBay (end time 13-Aug-10 19:40:42 BST) worked great when i tested it with nice thin water, bit of a different story after i had drained the box and tried pumping thick oil through it, the bugger had an air leak! fixed that and then added the oil, it drained only 2L but i nearly put 3.2l back (i just filled until it overflowed) can i overfill?

the second question is: when i removed the magnetic drain plug i noticed that it definately had a few meatal filings on it (not many, maybe 20 1/4ml pieces, If this normal for a truck of my age or is it a warning sign of something worse to come?

cheers:)

Sounds like mine the first time I did it. I haven't had any more filings after the first change.
No, you can't over fill it, if it is on level ground then the correct level is when it starts to overflow

cool, cheers. if anything it could have been marginally tilting to the o/s (only a degree or two) so if anything it'll be slighty underfilled but i think it should be fine :).
