Thanks Dr Evil, looks like i've been looking in the wrong place, am i rite in saying that they are on the right when you look up from underneath? Drivers side? Thanks

Andy

The transfer box is always quite stiff as it doesn't generally get used as frequently. It would take quite a lot of force to break the linkage though...
I find that if I go though all the settings about once a week, it is fine. I also grease the linkage every 6 months or so.

my diff lock was stuck and I had to remove the gubbins from the console side and give it an almighty beating with a very large hammer and drifter to get it free.

I'm going to have to take off that riveted plate underneath the centre console as i cant get to the linkages underneath coz of the width of the Auto Box, is it just a case of drilling out the rivets and going from there?

Thanks
Andy

Yes thanks ive tried everything, the lever will not move to the left on the transfer box at all, goes into low but pops back out.

Hi all, still not sorted this but i now have all the top off, riveted plate etc and it looks to be stuck at the left hand side where you look down, not the side were it goes out into the air and the linkages attach(drivers side) so its the passenger side were the rod slides into were it seems not to want to go in to, ive tried hitting this side with a hammer and a small block of wood to no avail, i know people have mentined hitting it here were its seized but im trying to be careful of not damaging the alloy housing, am i hitting the right place? ive worked the diff further down were the bolt goes into the top of the diff so i know it isn't stuck there and ive got a tiny bit of movement from the right hand side were the bar exits the housing and attaches to the linkage so im pretty sure its not stuck there either, ive also sprayed alot of wd40.

Thanks for the help
Andy

it is that side that seizes usually, the end cap is removable shaft goes through ,and may well be easier to pull housing off and free on the bench

sorted this by taking all the top selector off that holds the lever, the bar was seized at the left hand side where it slides in, was easier to take it all off and work on it that way as it needed to be hit with a hammer and worked quite a bit left and right, then packed it full of grease and all over the rod itself. Thanks for all the help and suggestions as i didn't have a clue.

Ps: i hope this helps the guy who seems to be having the same problems as posted on the forum.

Andy
