Hi has anyone changed the bearing / seal on the front of the transer box? On a discovery 1. I have a leak coming from the front. For some reason it looks like (WHAT I THINK IS THE FLANGE) has come out of the casing and is sitting against the nuts that hold the prop shaft on.

do you mean the flange mudshield
if you remove flange ,prise out the seal you can either just replace the seal or go on and remove the circlip securing the bearing, then loosely refit flange and prise the flange shaft and bearing out, if your tapping a new seal in place fill the inner side with grease or vaseline etc it will stop the garter spring popping off as you fit the seal

Oh that's what it is. Will it be a problem with the bearing causing it to have moved out
does it look like this though in the pic the flange is half removed

Yeah it's not out as far as that. The bolts on mine are going the other way for some reason. And the metal that is just behind the bolts in that picture is up against the nuts on my one. I'll send a picture tomorrow.

Bolts fitted wrong way round.
The seals do wear out & you'll occasionally find they've worn a groove in the flange itself or it's pitted. Not expensive & not a difficult job to replace.
BUT get a good quality seal.
Might help: http://new.lrcat.com/#!/1231/34809/34810/2611 (Item 4 is a felt washer to stop oil leaking down the splines AIUI some people just use a bit of sealant instead)
