Gentlemen,
I would appreciate your advise. My 1999 V8 Disco II (I'm fresh owner) makes strange BANG noise while accelerating and decelerating/braking. I took it to repair shop, not official BritishMotors dealer, but to second and last LR garage. They've diagnosed me with a number of things, including
-front propeller shaft front V worn, needs replacement
-transfer box, LT230SE, front bearing
The estimated cost for replacement is around 200 pound together with BritPart replacements.
My questions are:
-did anyone attempt replacing the bearing and oil seal without the LRT-51-003, LRT-99-500, and LRT-41-012 tools? (because it looks like I can do it myself in garage if the tools are not THAT necessary)
-does it at all sound reasonable, diagnostic and fault? asking because I don't trust them 100%
-would BritPart be a reasonable replacement? I was told that all solid steel things from bp are ok, but the rubbers are too soft and generally suxx. Is that true?
All opinions appreciated, thanks!!!
