Yeah - just did mine yesterday, you need to drill and tap the back holes for the handbrake bracket. Took me about 5 hours to do on my own yesterday that included painting all the brackets, drilling and tapping holes etc...
Yes - and if your getting a disco box check for the diff lock connector as some do not have the connector on them (although the internal parts are there)
The stick will move but it ain't going to be connected to anything!
Took mine out on the motroway tonight, bloody hell what a difference, cruise at 70 and I can hear - and I think it might go quite a bit faster now... I THINK...

Ontop of the transfer box are two connectors that the shift stick connects to....
The one that moves forwards to back that sticks out of the side of a small cover on the top moves the selector fork between H,N,and L (i'm not going to get into the Range v's Ratio argument here)
There is a second one sightly furether forward what is on a shaft sticking out of the top with a lever on top that moves round. This connects again to the shift stick and when you move it from side to side rotates the shaft around moving the diff locking mechanism.
Many discos don't have this connector on the top so your shift stick will move freely from side to side but won't move anything inside the box! as it wont be connected to anything
Lush
I have to do this very soon

This is only on disco2's..... 200 & 300Tdi had the manual lock (or viscous where there was no mechanical differential lock for the driver to select)
I fitted one to my 110 a few weeks back.... excellent modification!
you dont need to drill and tap holes. You can drill a hole in the bracket to do the same thing and space it with a prop shaft nut, or you can swap the handbrake unit off the back of the box - about 8 bolts.
