Trailer lights have gone crazy.

Lighting board OK.

Socket on rear of vehicle full of water, rust and all sorts of unmentionables.

I have managed to get the socket off and rescued most of the wiring. Lost about an inch.

Options are to buy a new socket on ebay for about £5 or I am wondering if I should but a new loom as well?

I have read a new loom simply plugs into the vehicles wiring. I have looked for such a plug but so far unable to find one.

Advice please.

i had the same with my TD5, i just cut off what wiring was dead and re wired all working 100% ok now i just spray wd40 or the likes of in it to keep as good as pos but these are prone to go the way you describe.

if your loom is to be replaced you will prob find the connection is in the same place as mine, off side rear in a cover behind the wheel
