52 plate Td5.

Afternoon all, just passed M.O.T, (phew) but got an advisory on track rod ends. Thought I might as well get all four done as probably all in the same state so rang local indy, got told "you can't just buy the ends, you need the bars 'cos one end of each set is machine crimped on and you can't get it out".

Not calling them liars, but surely you can just get the ends? Had a look at Buster's how-to and did a search and read the posts but am still a bit confused. CAN you take the crimped ones out?

Any suggestions / experiences?

Cheers all.

i think theyre right mate, the drivers side ends are fitted to the bars, the passenger side ends are screwed in.

maybe some disco 1 bars will fit? they have 4 loose ends.

tbh i dont think the complete bars are THAT expensive anyway....?

otherwise you could always upgrade to HD bars, if you do some offroading...?

cheers!

Cheers mate, was thinking maybe HD bars if I had to go down that route, no offroading yet but a bit of light greenlaning. In your experience which are best?

Hi
A pair of HD bars from Paddocks is cheaper than a pair of standard bars. Also on the HD bars you can just replace the ball joints as normal when required.
This is the set up I have on my Td5 and I'm very happy with it.

Cheers
Graeme
