First post here. My 2000 freelander just failed its MOT. It needs a new front end track rod on passengers side and a UJ replaced in front of the viscous coupling. Would it be achievable to do these jobs mysef as I am fairly mechanical minded and if so where would I get torque settings and diagrams. Does the whole propshat need to come of or can just the front half be dropped. I have already order the parts and am waiting for them to come.Any advice please.

"achievable" depends on previous experience.
i wouldn't recommend attempting replacing the uj if you've never been shown how to do it.
it's easy enough to remove the relevent propshaft but trying to explain the pitfalls of joint replacement is difficult on here and you could easily knacker your new joint.
as for the track rod end that's easier but you will propably need a ball joint splitter and you should have the front wheel alignment checked afterwards.

all things considered it may be better to get it done by an independant.

Chaser..

I am suprised the UJ isn't sealed so you have to buy a complete prop shaft, but according to RAVE you can change them.
Follow the instructions in RAVE, just be careful when inserting the 'cross' into the cups so you dont knock any roller bearings into the bottom of the cup.
