Towing Package

I have recently bought a disco with tow package, or so I was told!! I only have the heavy duty tow bar fixed to the car, so I assume I have to purchase a tow ball hitch that slides in an attaches with some kind of pin?

The second problem is where do the electrics attached to??

The standard D1 and D2 towbars don't take the removeable ball, they are a bolt-on one, unless you have got a 2nd-tier manufactured towbar. The accessory towbar does have a removeable tow ball.

The socket for the towbar electrics is up behind the rear lights, normally behind the driver's side rear light (upper ones, not the bumper lights)

The instructions are in the Rave CD under 'Accessory fitting Instructions'.

and it was there as standard.. no towing package required.. if you bought it from a dealer what else did they lie to you about?

It sounds a little like a Dixon Bate adjustable towbar attachment. Does it look anything like this:

It did not look like that although this is A USA Disco as that is where i now live. We weren't lied to about anything else this is a one owner FSH car. All USA LR have A removable tow hitch that is a square section that slides into the main tow hitch. I can handle that part now as i have found that part at Walmart.

So just the electrics to sort out.

Re the electrics. If it's a Disco 2, there's a milti-pin connector behind the high-level right side rear light (as listerdiesel says). The part # (for a discovery 2) is STC50081 - this part should include the whol assembly for the electrics, including the 7-pin plug which you plug your trailer into....

the connector is also on there for the disco one in the UK but no idea if it is the same part number.

Ahhh! Removable American hitch reminded me of this which was on here in another thread

The guy must be the biggest lover of Disco 2's ever, he has a nice car and all but a removable hitch that becomes a brake light with writting on it is just crazy/great depending on your taste.
