Hi Guys, anyone got a wiring digram for
wiring up a towing hitch, hooked on the trailer
yesterday to take some rubbish to the tip
and noticed the lights not working on
the trailer, looked under the car and found
that the wire was coiled up underneath.
Need to wire it up before the weekend as
going camping, help much appreciated.

Cheers

Here you go

Thats fantastic thankyou, so I guess
there is not a plug somewhere in the
loom that i can just connect into, or
is it a case of splicing into the loom at
the rear and getting my soldering iron
out?

Ive no idea but i wud say so yes... sounds expensive... splice into the loom? thort the wire was there but coiled up and no plug?

Cheers Bigggeee and Nathan really appreciate
that, thats saved me some time and money, time
to get the tool box out...lol

Cheers again guys hitch all wired and the
pretty lights on the trailer all working, just
one question on my last car when I was
hitched up and indicating to go left/right
I would get a warning sound reminding me
that I was towing something, does the
freelander not have this? Thanks again
guys for the help much appreciated.

When I wired the tow bar on my discovery using the correct loom, the tell tale on the dash worked.

If I remember correctly I had to buy the buzzer when I wired my wife's Freelander

However the owners handbook on RAVE for Freelanders with a VIN No above 576764 has the following

The light being on the dash

Re Towing with 'standard' setup;
Buzzing - no
Green light - no
BUT you do need one or the other to be legal!
If you want the buzzer then you need to fit an extra unit (probably behind the rear cover where the trailer connector is located) in series with the trailer wiring, available from tow shops .
or
change out the standard flasher unit for a hella towing one to get the green trailer light flashing on the dash. (the standard flasher relay does not do this) :)
Do a search on the forum for the right one as there are different types and they do not all work on the Freebie. (check out this one HELLA 4DM003360-00)
or
You can always fit the std LR towing flasher relay upgrade from the stealers - loads of money!:rolleyes:

Cheers guys for the information really
helpful, the trailer is Erde so is small in
size and not visable with standard mirrors.
Now I dont normally forget I am towing
a trailer...lol, but when on a long journey
and after you've been on the motorway for
a longtime its just a nice little reminder.

Thanks again
