What about steep hill ascent.
Do you use low ratio or will the high ratio cope?

Pulling off possibly, depends really, but you would need to come to a stop to engage low range, you can switch from low to high upto about 20mph though I think, what ever you do if its an l322 to will tell you when you press the button if your going to quick

I pull an ifor williams containing 2 x17'2 horses one of which is an ID, the other an IDxTB so neither are lightweights. The yard is on a cracker of a hill but the only time I have used low ratio is in the snow. Diesel or petrol the L322 wont even notice your 2 tonne boat :)

Diesel every time IMO:) Both have weak gearboxes on the L322 if not well treated.

Just as with the P38 the earlier diesel L322s suffer far more automatic transmission woes. It's a matter of when the crappy GM box is going to go pop on a TD6 - not if - the ZF in the petrol often lasts a long time but can give trouble if the car's been abused or used for towing without changing the fluid. Both engines are pretty string and are generally reliable.
