Hi All,
just been given a trailer with 10 mini wheels on it. Our L322 has the quick release tow hitch fitted, but this is way to high for the trailer and although it runs along at a jaunty angle - it ain't right. I've seen the adjustable tow hitches which fit where the Q/R goes, does anyone know if these will give enough adjustment for this trailer or do I need to get out the welder and raise the front of it?
Thanks in advance.

or put some 13" mini wheels and 70 profile tyres that will raise the trailer up abit and you can use proper trailer tyres:D

They do proper trailer tyres in 10" rated to run at 130Kmh, I have then on my Bateson trailer.
Drop the supension on the car to motorway height and lock it there, assuming that's possible on the L322, that's what I have to do on the P38 for both the trailer and my caravan to get them near level.

have to lock mine on motorway for the carravan as well, i shouldnt have got one as long wasnt a probb with last short caravan.

Thanks all,
I'm not sure about the Motorway height as with the L322 the switch moves from Access, Normal to wading, the Motorway is seemingly just what happens at sustained cruising speeds ( which are higher than they are for our P38 ). Unless someone can let me know how to set at that height.
The 13 inch wheels is a good call, as I think on reflection the trailer needs adjusting so we can shift it with either.
Thanks again

13" wheels may only raise yhe trailer up 2-2.5 inches but it may be all thats needed and easy to do but not as cheep as bit of welding, one the plus side new wheels and tyres

I have the flange type 323063 westfalia which you would need to remove the socket for the quick change type and this just slides in in its place and held in place by a pin and clip so easily removed
If you look on PF Jones site you may find dimensions for the 3 different heights or search the westfalia site
I only have my phone so searching is useless
If I was home I could measure the height of mine on its lowest setting but I'm away for a few days

It does on mine , locks in standard height but whether you could take it up the motorway , if you excuse the terminology, without the trailer plugged in and press the inhibit switch it may stay like it when you attach the trailer link
Not sure if you could calibrate the suspension heights using all comms to make your access height suitable for a trailer , I am only thinking out loud, that may be bollox

I was told on this site that the suspension locks when the electrics socket is plugged in on the L322.:)

that would make sense with the modern electonics, mates merc ml amg has to have engine running when you hookup or disconect so the computer knows it there or not

Yep thats how the L322 is - Locks as soon as its plugged in.

I'll look at the site thank you - if you get the chance to have a measure that would be very helpful.

Will do, the westfalia site is quite good and also if you contact PF jones by email they reply pretty quick, think they have an ebay shop as well
I bought my subframe towbar and ecu/ wiring from them

indeed, the suspension locks when you put electric socket in.

however. if you get the car (without trailer) to motorway hight on a bypass or motorway and then lock it all will be fine..

good luck..

I had a bit of a quick measure up of my flange tow bar heights to the road with the car in standard height, keeping in mind i haven't ever calibrated my suspension heights. i included the height to the bottom of the square for reference. i'm afraid its no CAD drawing, the actual photo is off the PF Jones site.
i had to guestimate the dimension on the drawing as my ball was at the highest setting which measured 460 mm from road to the top of the ball.

Link below to the part on PF Jones site for part number 323063 which is the flange type towbar including the ball. i took the measurement to the top of the ball or the centre of the bolt holes. tell me if anything is glaringly out and i'll re measure or let me know if you want a specific height.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the picture and info on the PFJones site - I'll get the trailer on tomorrow and see if the adjustable hitch height ranges will do it - but its looking better from what you've posted.

That's no bother, the lowest setting is pretty low so you could be in luck.
let me know if you have a dimension you want me to confirm before you get the welder or the gas axe out.

All checked, looks like the lowest setting will work out, so part ordered + gives me more reason to use the L322! Thanks for all your help.
