Sankey style trailer hitch too low.

I recently bought a Sankey style trailer but when towing on the defender 110 tow package, the hitch it too low. I understand the NATO hitch should be bolted to the rear crossmember but then there is fouling with the spare wheel (which I don’t want to have to remove each time I tow).
Anyone got any ideas how to remedy this.
Will supply some pictures tomorrow if needed/ will help

there is a good sankey trailer group on facebook with lots of details.
A few people have this issue and run their hithes with dixon bat adjustables with a large spacer block between the actual hitch and the dixon bate saddle - it pushes the hitch out further backwards so it can be opened with the tyre on the door
