Sorry I have not searched as I couldnt think of what to call it!!

At the bottom of the centre stack in front of the gearsticks there is a black box and on the side it has a silver toggle switch. The switch does not appear to do anything noticable.

The car is a 1991 Defender

Can any helpful person tell me what this switch is for?

Thanks

Tony

It turns a tv on and off in someone's living room somewhere

Sorry im not with the car, just looking through google images looks like its on all defenders big black box under the dash in front of the gear sticks with a single toggle on the side.
Or am i missing the obvious?

Ain't got that on mine. You mean near the fuse box cover?

Sorry I am very new to Defenders!! Yes I assume the black box is the fuse box cover its on the drivers side of this a small metal toggle switch, thinking about it I would say its an aftermarket fittment.

Alarm/immobilser switch? or a fuel cut off? as I said it doesnt appear to do anything, just wondered what it might be

So just to confirm what I am asking is... On the drivers side of the fuse box cover there is a small metal switch. Can anyone tell me what it might be for?

Sorry I am that much of a numpty I didnt actually clock that the part I was originally discribing was the fuse box cover!!

I have one of these, it was an immobilizer/fuel cut off switch that was fitted to the old engine before it was swapped over to a discovery 200tdi. I haven't had it hooked back up cause it has a cobra alarm/immobilizer fitted now.

Tat would make sense im guessing its the same thing, it must be disconnected as it does nothing to the running or starting. I will caryy on with ignoring it then!!

Thanks for all the replies

No worries, i'm sure the wires are probably still hanging around somewhere if you wanted to hook it back up, if you want to keep your Landy a little safer though you should get yourself a better alarm/immobilizer fitted, what with how popular they seem to be for getting nicked :/

For fecks sake don't touch it! Thats the transponder master switch, if that goes off your radar plot on Landyzone will disappear, we will have to spend weeks looking in the wrong area trying to find you!

It's custom so could do anything, start tracing wires, do you have electric fans or extra lighting?
