Yep, so todays problem, thought the clutch felt lower, Clutch master cylinder empty.

It's probably the slave leaking as I can see anything coming from the master.

Any advice RE brands, I don't want to be buying new ones every few months!

Thanks,

Wes

I fitted Lucas master and slave cylinders last week, I think they are pretty much the best you can get unless you want genuine Land Rover. My slave cylinder was leaking like a sieve, when I undid it a fair amount of hydraulic fluid came out with it...

Get someone to depress the clutch pedal while you watch the slave cylinder and watch the flexi hose by the slave cylinder (gearbox end) it should move slightly with the pressure.
It should move around an inch and start to move the moment the pedal is pressed. I suggest this is best done with the engine stopped and the hand brake applied.

Same thing has just happened too me!

Slave went the other day and after phoning my mechanic for advice refilled the master cylinder and started pumping the clutch to push the air through and the sodding master blew! FECK!

Trying to decide do I go for cheapo cylinders from paddocks or stump up the £30 a piece for a decent master and slave!

My BP master & slave were both nearly 10-years old when I replaced them recently and that wasn't because they had failed, just that I had replaced every other component associated with the clutch so I thought I would replace those as well. No issues with them whatsoever.
That said, I used Lucas TRW this time and the total cost for both master & slave was only £32 so you pays your money and takes your choice.

Where from? I was quoted £30 each for the master and slave

Bought mine from Island 4x4, just checked and they are now about £35 the pair but still cheaper than what you were quoted.
Buy a couple of other parts to make up the difference (flexi-hose, a few filters etc) and get free postage, that is what I always do.
