Timing set up

I have recently got a 1998 3.9 V8i (not converted to LPG) and want to check the timing. Can anyone tell me what the timing is supposed to be for that engine and where the timing marks are? I assume this will have to be done with a strobe??

Depends how slack ya timing chain is

About 5 degrees +/- 1 degree at 800rpm.

On yer crank pulley (where else?) and yes wivva strobe.

You might just be better off timing it by ear and checking throttle response, especially if the engine has a few miles on it.
