Hi there I have a 4.4 v8 range rover with the m62 engine it seems to have an oil leak thats coming from behind the timing chain housing, if anyone had similar probs would appreciate input and garages that would take on such a job. Thanks.

3 possibilities....

Rocker Cover Gaskets have got old and perished - annoyingly fiddly job for access

PCV Valve gunked up over pressurising the crankcase forcing oil out the rocker cover gaskets...annoyingly fiddly job

VANOS system hydraulic leak - a b!tch and £££

Or maybe it is just a loose timing chain cover (remember there are two covers - one on each Vee)

Thanks for the reply, do you know any garages that would do the timing chains, as every garage I've spoke to don't want to touch it because of the tooling required?

Whats your location roughly...

Not manu places will do the Chains and/or the VANOS system...

Access is terrible, the amount of ancillary stuff to remove is fiddly...

Get hold of the RAVE workshop manuals and take a look at the job and consider doing it yourself as a garage will be £££
