I went out tonight to start getting ready for changing the timing belt tomorrow, I brought the woodruff key to the timing mark and the 9.5mm drill bit went straight in the pump cog with no hassle but it looks like the cam shaft pully mark is well off the arrow. I didnt get as far as checking the flywheel for the marks through the bung plug as it was getting dark and baltic. I tried it three to four times with the same result, would really appreciate your opinions on this one.

Thanks for the replies, I will check flywheel tomorrow before i go any further. Is there meant to be a timing dot on the pump wheel?

not that is of any use to you if it has, pump uses the pin, pulley holes are slotted to allow proper fit of belt, because theres no adjustment for cam it can be part of a tooth out once belt is tensioned though yours is a whole tooth, but pump need to be exact

Cheers James, would it have done any damage being a tooth out?

I went out this morning and turned crank until the timing mark appeared in the bung hole at bottom, then i took the bung out at the top and the timing mark wasnt there . Rotated until the other mark appeared in the bottom and the mark was at the top, happy days untili looked at the cam and pump marks they are well out. Am i right in the settings ????? could this run being this far out or am i being stupid here???

This is how far out it is with flywheel settings as of pictures, it cant be seen from the photo but the woodruff key is in line with timing arrow.
Surely ive made a mistake here somewhere!!!

My 200's flywheel has two slots in it,why that should be I don't know. But it is obvious which is the right one to set the timing.

There are the slots in the fly wheel one is timing one is for something else. When I timed mine with the engine out one of the timing slots in the flywheel puts the camshaft dot pretty much spot on the other puts it way out. I'd assume you have the wrong slot in the fly wheel. If you turn the crank twice with a socket wrench you'll probably feel contact where the timing is out. Don't force it if you feel any hard resistance. Compression is quite stiff but springy doesn't feel rock solid.
