Here and there.
hi all

Ive noticed some Defenders have what I assume are tie down points on the outside and some don't. Is this a model thing or maybe it was an optional extra? If it's a model thing, can anyone tell me what year they went from/to? Seems like it's on the older ones up... But trying to work out why/when they have. Do they still occur on newer models?

See attached for what I mean.

Thanks a lot.

The last one off the production line was a soft top, so they made at least one, LOL.

They are also fitted to truck cabs that have the tilt ( canvas back ) fitted.

Cheers

No full soft tops in 2011 but as said could have been a truck cab with soft top over the load bed. Or previous owner could have just added them...

Ok, so thinking about it more, the one I just looked at was definitely a truck cab been made to look like a hard top... because it had the bolt for the spare wheel inside the back of the bed and on the back had the extra catch to hold the folding tailgate.

Is this anything to be massively worried about?

Worry about in what way?

A majority of older landies are not the same spec as they came out of Solihull. As long as any mods are done correctly then I do not see there being any issues.

As an example mine was a hard top and is now a full soft top. I had to add the rope hooks.

Cheers
