so up lakes last weekend and lost power.. strange ticking noise from injun area when I lifted bonnet.

changed fuel filter and no better.

so swopped lift pump and its been fine for a week and a half.

on way to work this morning and same loss of power started to occur.. opened bonnet and same ticking noise has started..

if I hold the throttle open it revs to about 2700rpm max then slowly dies until it stalls..

as I originally cured the problem by replacing the lift pump I am inclined to believe its the lift pump again.. but having two fail under the exact same circumstances is a little odd.

so could it be something else? read a few bits on here about air leaking into injector causing a ticking, but cant find info to check..

how would the new lift pump cure the air leak for a week and a half..

i'm so confused.. I can stick another lift pump on and see how it goes for a starter til I receive some suggestions from someone with more knowledge than I...

cheers...

1st one that failed was a Delphi I think... Not britpart..

2nd one unknown.. was in middle of lakes Sunday mornin about to drive gatesgarth.. found a farmer with an old disco n bought the lift pump off him.. fitted it.. all good.. done 300 miles or so and this one failed too...

got another pump from adventure 4x4..

they said there that it may be due to lack of lubrication as I use bio diesel..

he said that the reduction in sulphur in petro diesel has caused the same problem...

everywhere I have read says bio has more lube properties than low sulpher stuff, but you could always put a bit of 2 stroke in the tank at the same time.

how are yer leak off pipes? mine ticks like anything if theres air in the system (presuming the self bleed system doing its stuff)

Just a thought, does yours have a sedimentor in the wheelarch??

cheers dip... but no... lol...

chaged lift pump, set of home and was goin like a race car for bout 3 miles...

then lost power again... managed to chug home keeping revs under 1500... great fun that was,,

changed fuel filter,,

and its fine... guess im gonna have to start changin fuel filter weekly...

or get some betterer bio...

A previous owner hasn't put anuvver filter in somewhere have they?

There is a little filter in the tank that may be blocking then unblocking when you release filter pressure.
Try blowing back down line into tank and see if it cures it for a bit:)

Think your biodiesel is still full of soap.Take a sample of fuel, place in a clean glass jar and add an equal volume of water.Put the lid on and shake the nuts out of it then leave to settle. The bio layer (top) will look like orange juice this is normal. The water underneath should be as clear as when it went in-if not complain to your bio supplier. If the bio is soapy you really need to get it out of the tank and run the lot thru a "j" cloth (about 5 micron)otherwise you are going to be changing filters regularly until this lot is burnt.
Also biodiesel has far superior lubricating properties compared to dino diesel.

Was just thinking that... I had a really bad batch not long ago, loads of soap in it, kept cloggin me filters.
if you leave it to settle out even longer, you might end up with a layer of soap between the water and bio.
A right mess of a job is running it through a J cloth, I got a couple of those inline fuel filters, put that inline with me 12V pump before pumping from one container to the other, worked well for me, just took ages.
