Really strange one - 4.0 HSE year 2000 P38 which I've had for almost 2 years. Last week I got into it on a quiet morning and heard a low tone rythmic ticking/clicking electrical noise coming from somewhere behind / under the glovebox area. It has been going ever since, ticking every second or so (constant) whether its on/off/driving/stationary/anything.

Nothing seems to be broken / stopped working, but the chequebook symbol on the HVAC unit has been on for probably a year (10 months at least) but thats because the distribution blend motor has quit. Everything else works fine.

I'm concerned its a ticking timebomb for something else....

I have a funny clicking noise when i lock the car up it ticks 3 or 4 times when i do it for some reason, wasn't there when i first bought the Landy!!

Yep, sounds like self levelling on yours. Definitely not on mine though, its constant 24 hours a day (i guess - doesn't seem to stop anyway)...

Can't figure it out. Nothing seems to have stopped working so should be grateful for that at least...

Nathan,

Sorry - haven't been online in a few days. The ticking happens 24/7 - car on/off, driving/stopped, doors open/closed, locked/unlocked.

Haven't a clue what it is, but its in the passenger footwell, somewhere on the bulkhead i reckon. Very quiet and a low tone as opposed to a tick. definitely something electrical....

Nothing seems to be broken, so i'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't the sound of something dying...

Thanks,
Shane

Disconnect battery to determine if its something electrical.
Good idea. Making sure you have access codes 1st !
Bonnet up and maybe use old trick of long screwdriver held to various components, with handle stuck against your ear, to localise noise?
