Had an oil leak fixed on my TD5 and thought it would be good to get her steam cleaned underneath. What cock up!! Drove her away from the wash bay and onto the main road only to find she would not go above 1000rpm and kept trying to stall. Eventually crawled across the lights and parked up on the side of the road. Switched her off and then she would not start. The dash looked like a xmas tree with all the warning lights comming on.
One of the relays in the engine fuse box was clicking like mad even though the keys were in my hand. Seems like water had forced its way into the electrics. ECU was dry though. Anyway after waiting for an hour for the AA and drying out all the electrical connectors I could reach she fired up and runs as she did before. Moral of the story......use only low pressure water when cleaning the engine. Still, had a good look under her and she still looks like new.....thank goodness for South African weather (no salt, 5 months of the year with no rain etc)
