I've had a disco td5 that was fairly modified.

I've now got a td5 90, that's fairly standard. I love my 90, but my mate has just bought a disco 4. I am amazed how good it is on green lanes.

I'm considering getting a disco 3 to replace my 90. I realise they are totally different things, but I don't do really extreme stuff, and the 90 needs some work to get it to be a bit more capable on the lanes.

Does anybody on here run a disco 3 for green lanes, what mids are needed? Snorkel, axle breathers, suspension mods?

What model is going to be best for my needs?

Thanks in advance

Hey,

Tbh where I am now I would kill for a ninety! Prefer if you excuse this "proper" landy's, the TD5 is as complicated as I would like to go.

But that's just me bud, going off road is more about technique more then anything the rest of the goods just make it easier.

However I could be wrong

Heggars

But

I would start with

Axle breathers
Change to electric fan
Snorkel "pending on how deep you want to go"
Good set of tyres
Basic recovery gear, spade, recovery lines, shackles etc

Personally I wouldn't mess around with the fan and would leave the viscous on.
However, depends what sort of green lanes you intend on doing a Sump/steering guard could prove useful.

The D3 has a pretty impressive wading depth in standard form. If I had a D3 I wouldn't want to wade much above that height, the interiors too nice and too much electrikery onboard IMO.....

+1 D3 can warrant a good bank account, lad that works for us has one, it has cost him a fortune this year

Around here I'seen a couple of D3s hangin' with the frsme down and engine removed. Turns out some D3 engine types like the 2.7 diesel are throwaways, the run for about 130-160 thousand kms, and on at least one the block had to be replaced. That's all I know.
