HI,im really thinking of getting a 1963 swb landy thats sitting in a yard unloved,it's a petrol but i can get my hands on a TDI and gearbox from a disco for £50,the land rover has a full external roll cage with front and rear steel bullbars,a home made snorkle and uprated shocks with poly bushed leaf springs,it still has original reg plates on it(black and white)and the guy says it hasnt been on the road for about 20 years, that he used it for extreme site work in the north of scotland(forestry, hydro construction)although he does have the registration docs, the chassis is in mint condition but the body is a bit bashed about(i dont mind)i really want to put it on the road and use it as-A a daily driver and B fun at the weekend as it'll be cheap classic insurance and tax exempt and i can fix it easly if and when it breaks down,so my question is should i go for it??? or should i stay away.
PS......it's free if i want it!!!!!

That's not a question is it? You really just came on here to gloat didn't you?

I call bull**** .. someone saying he can get a Series for free and a Disco for £50 ... and should he go for it!

I have no technical knowledge and have only owned my Landy for a few weeks, during which, I have had a major clean, two punctures and now have an ignition wiring problem, infact I think Tilly has spent more time on the drive than the road. never the less when I do drive her, I drive with a huge grin on my face. In short, whatever the pain, there is nothing like a Landy. Go for it.

I suspect our resident troll is inferring that due to the mods, it has lost enough points to lose its original identity/ tax free status.Ignore him, he is an envious pillock. Just do a search on his posts and you will see what I mean.
ahh ha,i see,so to be tax free you cant do a lot to a car(i used to have a mk1 escort with a new body shell and a 2.1pinto in it it was originally an 1100 and it was tax exempt),so conformity is not an issue to me!!,i just want something different now that im all grown up(divorced)LOL

hi,well i dont know much about land rovers so i dont know how much they go for with no MOT or stuff, and i work in a garage thats got 5 disco's in the back yard for breaking so i can get an engine+box for £50 if i take it out on my lunch break,so no bull**** i was just asking if it was worth it????

You require a thick skin on this blog site, some of our "members" have not reached full mental maturity so just ignore them. They will be along soon to comment on this, which will just confirm my theory.
