Thinking of buying freelander help!

Hi there I current drive an audi a4 but now I fancy a freelander I have found one it is a 2001 cairngorm se 1.8 with 103000 miles on it I have a buyer for my car so the deal can be done however all I hear is bad news about the k series 1.8 engine ie shg failure I need this car to last me 4 years or so and be reliable am I buying the wrong car ? Is there an uprated shg you can fit? This car comes with a great service history and is in great cond body wise

yes, yu are buying the wrong car.
yes there is an uprated shg - its still crap.

Never had a problem with multy layered steal head gaskets on K seiries engine fitted loads and metal dowels, original HG are proper ****e though, however freelanders are generaly ****e its not just the engine you want to worry about.
 
Thanks for that this one looks good though that seems to be the only thing going for it what others problems do freelanders have ?
 
listen to the people on here and dont buy it !! i wish i had asked for advice before i bought mine !! failing that make sure you have a money tree in the garden cos your going to need it !!
