hi all thinking of buying a Freelander for my girlfriend to drive as she has only ever driven lhd cars would like to have lhd, I had a brand new one when they first came out with the 2l rover engine in it,loved it but drove to many miles at the time to keep it and found it not very good as a motorway car which I needed at the time,
I do not want to spend too much and would like a td4 with not much more that 100k on the clock, have seen a lot of converted ones for sale on ebay , any one know how good the conversions are is there any thing to look out for with the converted ones? or do I look in France they are a lot more about 2500 pounds on ebay and 5000€ here but have not been messed around with and I do not have to go and get it and register it here change lights , would like to get one cheap with problem here but all I have seen are a long way away to bring back on trailer also anything eles I should think about

Dunno where in France you are and whether they use salt on the roads - but I would not want a UK import here because the the salt/corrosion issues with them. Give me a clean NZ car any day.

my discovery has always lived here and is 18 years old with no rust still on exhaust it came out of the factory with so a good point; think north of france salt roads but not here

I've heard of some bodged conversions using Vauxhall steering racks and bodged wiring harnesses.
However as long as the conversion was done properly, using LHD Freelander components, there's no reason why it shouldn't be fine.
